Mrs. Edna Dorothy McMillen, 78, Covington native and sister of the late Earle Doane, died March 29 at her home in Holmes Beach, on Anna Maria Island, Florida.

She was born in Covington in 1895, the daughter of Claude E. and Cora Martin Doane. A graduate of the local high school, she was active here in musical and social groups, and a member of the D.A.R. In 1915, she married Wheeler McMillen, then owner of the Covington Republican. Their son, Robert D., also was born here. He is now executive assistant to the New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture.

From 1918 to 1922 the McMillens ran their family farm near Ada, Ohio, and then moved to New York City. Later, while Mr. McMillen was editor of Farm Journal, they lived at Hopewell and at Moorestown, New Jersey.

From 1928 Mrs. McMillen had spent winters in Bradenton, Florida. During World War II she was a leader there in Red Cross and U.S.O. work and afterwards conducted a radio program on the local station.

A memorial service was held at a chapel near her island home. Burial was at Ada, Ohio.
